Pharmacoepidemiology Development Center has organized a network in 169 municipalities with the following objectives:

obtain rational drug use,

describe and analyze prescription patterns,

identify inadequate therapeutic schedules,

update prescribers in therapeutic approaches by means of updated information, printed and electronic,

promotion and coordination of researches.

Information department searches, analyses and disseminates information received about therapeutic approaches currently updated by electronic means as they are the Internet, electronic mail, discussion and information lists.
Due to economical difficulties of the country, very few journals are bought, and this communication mean has great importance for the Center’s goals.
This information flows to the net through bulletins, e-mails and teleconferences.
Also the Medical informatic dept. develops software for control of drug availability , drugs distribution, analysis of utilization by DDD, in such way that it’s possible to know all the utilization rates for drugs used in Chronic Non Transmissible Diseases, which are controlled and organized in the whole Country through the network.
