Dear Dr. Storey,
Thank you very much for your comments. It is amazing that some animals can survive for months with little or no ATP production and utilization. The mechanism we are dealing with in our presentation is probably only working in pathological situations, when the amount of existing pump molecules is insufficient to maintain sodium gradient and more molecules have to be synthesized.
