You show substantial effects of water stress while the stress (PEG) is constantly applied. What happens when stressed plants are then transferred into normal unstressed conditions and growth is allowed to continue. Do plants recover? Are plants permanently impaired due to water stress early in their development or can they overcome this and yield a mature crop as good as those that have never experienced water stress?
