We propose to study the effect of nanoparticles on the health
of organisms. Nanoparticles are being increasingly used in a variety of
biological applications such as drug delivery and tissue engineering,
as well as for industrial purposes. While these technologies are developed
in order to improve our lives it is important to address the side effects
of introducing foreign particles in living cells. We will use a C. elegans
model to evaluate the impact of nanoparticles of different kinds on the
development and function of complex organisms. This research will further
our understanding of the possible consequences of nanoparticles on human
health. |
