The number of persons exposed to isocyanates increases in industry and in household. New data about toluylene diisocyanate (TDI) influence on lipid peroxidation (LP), antioxidant protection (AP), immunity status (IS) of human and laboratory animals were obtained by clinical and laboratory studies. It should be noted, that repeated TDI exposure even at MAC (0,05 mg/m3 ) level causes changes in IS ( predominant activation of cellular, humoral immunity and natural resistance), LP (increase in chemoluminescence of plasma and erythrocytes; malon dialdehyde, peroxidal hemolysis) and AP (phase changes of catalase and glutathion peroxidase activity) in rats. Cellular immunity functional changes, inhibition of some humoral immunity indecis, various changes of neutrophile functions, local immunity disbalance, human body allergization signs were found in workers exposed to TDI ( at levels below MAC and up to 8 MAC). Obtained results testify about necessity of further investigations to prove criterial significance of found changes and to define current MAC reliability.
