Functional alterations in rat basilar artery induced by chronic inhibition of nitric oxide synthase (NOS). Are they related to vascular remodeling?

We have observed that L-NAME treatment increased adventitial cell
number, likely fibroblasts and macrofages. The work of Luvara et al. which demonstrates inflamatory cell infiltration and iNOS induction in rat aorta after oral L-NAME treatement, provides possible explanation for the source of iNOS in our experiments.
