Dr. Sukhvinder S. Obhi started the Social Brain, Body and Action Lab in 2005 (in fact it was known as the "Cognition in Action Lab" from 2005-2011) when he joined the Department of Psychology at Wilfrid Laurier University. Born and raised in the UK, he completed his undergraduate degree in Physics & Sports Science at Loughborough University, a MSc in Sport & Exercise Science at Manchester Metropolitan University under the supervision of Professor Dave Collins. During his masters study he realized he was fascinated by the brain and cognition. This interest led him to pursue a PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience at University College London (UCL). Working with Professor Patrick Haggard, this is where his passion for experimental psychology and cognitive neuroscience really grew. He was fortunate during this time to spend several months as a visiting graduate fellow at Harvard Medical School where he worked in the Laboratory for Magnetic Brain Stimulation, under the supervision of Professor Alvaro Pascual-Leone. From 2003-2005, He was a Postdoctoral Fellow with Professor Melvyn A. Goodale at what is now the Brain and Mind Institute at Western University, in London Ontario. In July 2014, he moved the lab to the Department of Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour at McMaster University where they continue to have fun figuring out humans!
He contributes to the scientific community by serving as a Co-Editor at Experimental Brain Research, an Associate Editor at Cognitive Neuroscience and Acta Psychologica and a review editor at Frontiers in Human Neuroscience.
