In 1956, Jack Pelech entered Osgood Hall Law School and was called to the bar in 1959. He served on the Ontario Legal Aid Committee since its inception in 1967 and was an executive member of the Hamilton Lawyers Club. Jack was best known for his passion for amateur sport and the guiding force behind the establishment of the Canada Games.
Among his many honours, he was Hamilton’s Citizen of the Year in 1987, was inducted into the McMaster Sports Hall of Fame and Hamilton’s Gallery of Distinction. He was appointed to the Order of Canada in 2005 and the Canada Games Hall of Honour in 2007.
