Teresa Cascioli was born in Hamilton, Ontario. After graduating from McMaster University with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1983, she began her career in the public sector. From 1983–1995, Teresa performed various finance, planning and treasury roles. As Manager of Finance and Administration for the City of Hamilton she was responsible for a $500 million annual operation and capital budget.
Following her tenure with the City of Hamilton, Teresa was employed by a publicly traded company where she was Vice President, Investor Relations (1995–1998). In this capacity she acted as the company–s liaison with the financial and investment community at large. She has extensive knowledge of the IPO process, publicly traded disclosure requirements, stock market intelligence, communication and media relations expertise.
During her career, Teresa taught and developed various business and computer courses for Mohawk College. Teresa also advised the College’s educational panel on trends in continuing education.
Since November 1999, Teresa has been the President & Chief Executive Officer of Lakeport Brewing Corporation. Lakeport manufactures its own proprietary beer brand and is a leading manufacturer of alcoholic, spirit and malt–based cooler products as well as one of Canada’s largest supplier of non’alcoholic beer to major national grocery chains. She is responsible for the management and growth of the business including securing financing, negotiating with the Company’s bargaining unit and securing packaging contracts.
Lakeport was recognized by the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce with the Outstanding Business Achievement Award in 2000. In October 2003 Profit Magazine and Chatelaine ranked Teresa as 8th in the list of top 100 women entrepreneurs in Canada. During off hours Teresa enjoys hiking, exercising, cooking and gardening.
