Dr. Mohit Bhandari’s research in collaborative randomized trials has set worldwide benchmarks in the field of orthopedics, particularly in regard to musculoskeletal trauma. Dr. Bhandari is regarded as the foremost authority in the translation of orthopedic research to clinical practice (evidence–based orthopedics). He has had an enormously positive impact on orthopedic surgery research in a very short period of time.
Dr. Bhandari’s clinical interests include the management of patients with complex lower extremity fractures and fractures of the pelvis and acetabulum. He holds a Canada Research Chair in Musculoskeletal Trauma and Surgical Outcomes, the only chair of its kind in Canada. He has published more than 180 peer–reviewed papers and given over 70 presentations and lectures in Hamilton and internationally, leading to worldwide recognition. He has also obtained a large number of peer review grants from prominent peer review agencies, receiving 4 million dollars in research funding in the past 5 years.
