C. Howard Bentall acquired a B.A. from the University of British Columbia before attending McMaster. From 1938 to 1946, he served as senior minister at First Baptist Church in Regina. His next charges included Walmer Road Baptist Church, Toronto and First Baptist Church in Calgary.
In 1959 Howard was awarded an honorary doctor of divinity degree from McMaster. From 1972 to 1992, Dr. Bentall served as associate executive minister for the Baptist Union of Western Canada. He is a past–president of the Canadian Baptist Federation and former vice–president of the Canadian Bible Society. He has been a member of the Ranchmen’s Club of Calgary and the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club. In 1991, Calgary’s Downtown Kiwanis Club presented him with an appreciation award. For many years he has been an honorary director of Operation Eyesight Universal, and secretary–treasurer of Hawthorne Charitable Foundation.
