Further Delays in the
Pension Surplus Distribution
(e-mail sent to McMaster Community on December 17, 2001)
Dear Colleagues:l
I am sorry to report that there are further delays in the mailing of option forms for the Pension Surplus Distribution. The latest delays arise because of tax considerations which have been raised regarding one of the optional forms of payment. We are working with the University and its professionals in order to try and resolve these issues. Unfortunately, this means that there will be some further delays in receipt of the option forms.
It is difficult to be firm now about the date of mailing. We have agreed on drafts of most of the material to go out, so that once we have the tax problems worked out things could go very quickly. However, I now think it unlikely that you will receive the forms in the mail before January.
I am sorry to have to report on this further delay and hope that it will be the last time I have to do so. This and any further updates will be posted on the MUFA web site at:
