Revisions of Pension Text and Tuition Bursary Programme

At its meeting of March 26th, the Joint Committee approved the following two items:

  1. Revisions to the Pension Plan Text and Memorandum of Understanding re Payment of Administrative Expenses, as described in the attached documents (Pension Plan Text Memorandum of Understanding)

  2.

  3. A continuation of the Tuition Bursary Benefit for 1998/99 for spouses and dependents of faculty librarians as follows:

  4.

    1. $75 per credit up to a limit of $2250 per academic year for full- or part-time study at McMaster for eligible spouses and dependents;

    2.

    3. retention of the current eligibility criteria;

    4.

    5. "grandfathering" of the tuition waiver for those students who, in 1997/98, are enrolled in that programme;
    6. a reduction in the academic requirements for the Tuition Bursary to require simply admission to or eligibility to continue at McMaster.

    7.

The revisions to the Tuition Bursary are consistent with those recommended by the Faculty Association and include the understanding that the benefit is not to exceed $200,000 per year for 1997/98 and 1998/99, and that any deviation from that amount would be accommodated in future years.
