Good question. The figure certainly don't rule out this possibility, especially in the TPA-treated cells.
To confirm the presence of a such complex uptake system one need to run many more points, possibly 12-14, and we could not do that. It was decided therefore not to conclude from these data anything regarding the kinetics of the uptake, except that TPA increased the uptake by 50-100%.
