Congratulations on a very nice study. I wonder if you tried acetylcholine as well as nitroprusside to check that your blockade of NO production was effective? Is it possible that prostaglandins also participate in the shear stress mediated vasodilation? There are eNOS knockout mice that must have some compensatory mechanism to promote growth of arteries as organs enlarge. Why do you think they did not appear to function in your model?
