DA cell activity: cat vs monkey, SNc vs VTA Brian Hyland

The behaving-monkey literature seems to suggest that DA cells do not respond to arbitrary sensory stimuli. �In the monkey, the majority of the cells have been recorded from SNc, but those in VTA are said to be similar. �Are we dealing with a major species difference here?
