Dear All,
This is a beautiful series of experiments; I especially like the nerve cut experiments. The findings fit nicely with mating behavior. Why not also point out that response to cervical stimulation (tensing and extending legs and tensing back muscles ="bearing down" reaction) is adaptive for parturition -- expulsion of the neonates: it increases internal pressure and the pelvic floor muscles become relaxed
