Google Apps for Education email account is the official means of communication between students and faculty and staff. The usage of Google Apps for Education is subject to McMaster University's policies and Code of Conduct.


Eligibility

  • All McMaster full time and part time students who are not permanent full time McMaster employees are eligible for Google Apps for Education email.
  • Eligibility for email accounts is dependant upon your enrollment status. You must be enrolled in classes to be eligible to activate your email.
  • New Students to McMaster may activate their accounts after they have enrolled.
  • Upper level students will have their email accounts continue as long as they are enrolled in classes.
  • Access to Google Drive, Calendar and related documents through your McMaster account, will expire when your student email account expires. An expired account is subject to deletion.
  • The web login for your student email account is https://studentmail.mcmaster.ca

You will first need to activate your email account before logging into it.

To activate your email account :

  1. Log into Mosaic
  2. Click on the Nav. Bar   navigator
  3. Select MAC ID and Password  macid and password managment
  4. select Manage your Email Service
  5. select Activate

There are four Google Apps available for students

    Google Email - as noted above, this now becomes the official means of communication for the student with staff and faculty.

    Google Drive - a cloud based storage drive which allows for storing large amounts of data, and is available anywhere the student is connected to the internet.

    Google Docs - an online document creation tool which allows for spreadsheets, text documents and presentations. These are compatible with Microsoft Office programs and can be stored in Google Drive.

    Google Calendar - an online calendaring system which allows the student to schedule their life, both academic and personal, with ease of visibility onscreen.

    This email account is separate from your personal Gmail account.

You can read your email, import your calendar, google drive and your contacts from your studentmail account onto your smartphone and on email readers such as Outlook, Thunderbird and AppleMail.

You can also use read your mail through a web browser. The web login for your student mail account is https://studentmail.mcmaster.ca

When I click on the "Email by Google" link from Mosaic, my browser goes to a Google page and when I try to sign in, I get an error message saying I can not log in.


When I log into the account, I cannot log in the first time, but the second time I am successful. Why is this happening?


I cannot receive mail sent to my McMaster account, but I can send from it.
