Senior Class Gift

Time Well Spent

On April 23rd, a group of students gathered around to witness and participate in the burial of the Class of 2012 Time Capsule. While the day was rainy and cold, the ceremony was a great success, which each student being able to bury the time capsule together. The time capsule is filled with a multitude of things that represent our time here at McMaster, with all the content ideas coming from the graduating class. As the engraved capsule says, our time at McMaster was Time Well Spent. If you were unable to make it to the burial, you can see pictures of the ceremony here. Be sure to come back in 50 years to see the opening! This time capsule will be the centre of our Senior Class garden being planted as a legacy for the classes of 2010, 2011, and 2012.

The Challenge

Construction on the garden will begin this summer, and we will be updating you on the construction throughout here. As the garden is being planted, the classes of 2010, 2011, and 2012 are being challenged to raise $5000 each this summer to complete the garden. Each class will start fresh, and have until September 30 to reach their goal. On Homecoming Weekend (October 13) you are all invited to a garden party, where the garden and the winning class will be unveiled! The first class to reach the goal will have the honour of viewing the Homecoming Game in style. All of the garden party attendees will be treated to a small reception in Alumni Memorial Hall and be given a Homecoming ticket so they may watch the game. Watch for your invitation this fall.
